Using WebDAV within Windows
The contents of the mapped drive or network location will be displayed as follows:
For this user, Alpha and Omega Partners is the provider home screen. This display equates to the display in the web browser interface:
The provider account to which the user has access is shown as the top-level folder. The folders under it are Safe4 client vaults. Windows Explorer behaves as expected, and allows folders and sub-folders to be expanded and contracted. If the “Anderson Brothers” subfolder above is expanded it will show the Safe4 folders within the vault:
When a folder containing files is selected, the contents of the Safe4 folder will be displayed in the standard Windows fashion:
These files can be opened by double-clicking, and will be displayed in the application designated within Windows settings.
Please Note: When using WebDAV to access Safe4, all of the permissions settings within Safe4 will be fully respected by Windows. Hence if a user does not have access to a folder, it will not be displayed within Windows. Similarly, if access is restricted to read-only, the user will not be able to move, rename or delete any of the files in that folder. Nor will the user be permitted to upload files.
All actions performed by any user when using WebDAV will be fully recorded in the Safe4 audit trail, thus maintaining the evidential integrity of Safe4.
Safe4 Administration functions
Please note that all of the functions provided for managing and administering Safe4 must be carried out using the web interface. All of the processes associated with inviting and managing users, creating vaults, setting up and managing groups and permissions, and editing both provider account and client vault settings cannot be performed through the WebDAV extensions to Safe4. The WebDAV functionality for Safe4 has been designed as an optional facility for users who are carrying out tasks that involve standard desktop functions only.
