WebDAV Navigator

As described earlier in these guides, Safe4 can be used on a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet through an interface which broadly simulates the normal browser interface on a computer.

However, for rapid access to information held in Safe4 when using a mobile device, an application called WebDAV Navigator permits very swift and efficient entry to the system through a simple interface. This represents Safe4 provider accounts as folders, with sub-folders representing vaults. It is a read-only interface, so does not permit information uploads, and cannot display the content of Safe4 asset record folders. However, for use on mobile devices when travelling, or in situations when the use of a computer is not practical, it is a useful option.

The WebDAV Navigator is available from the Apple and Google stores. It is free to download.

After downloading to your device, the app can be opened and will present this screen:

Clicking on the + icon as shown above will allow the connection details to be entered:

The login details required are:

  • Name: the name you wish to give to the system overall
  • Server URL:  https://safe-4.com/dfa
  • Username: your Safe4 username
  • Password: your Safe4 password

Then click Save. Clicking on the name you have given to the system in the first field above will present the Safe4 provider accounts as folders:

Each of these folders represents a Safe4 provider account that the user has access to. Clicking on any will display the vaults within that account – clicking on folders will show subfolders and files. These structures are not displayed in tree format. The Legal folder that has been used in the other help pages in these guides will be displayed thus:

WebDAV Navigator does not support the upload of information into Safe4, but does allow very rapid access to the system for quick reference to stored files.
