Safe4 Asset Register: Associating Asset Types with Attributes
In order to allow the asset folder structure to be set up and permit the entry of the asset records, the next step is to associate the asset types that have been defined with the attributes that will describe them.
Click the Types link on the provider home page. This will show the list of asset types that have been defined:
Of the 7 asset types listed, 3 are to be used as place holders: Assets, Devices and Financial. No attributes will therefore be associated with these types.
To associate attributes with the asset type Bank, click the Edit icon in the Actions column to the right of the list:
The Attributes tab should now be clicked, as shown above. This will display the screen which allows the first of the attributes to be selected. Click the “+” button and box containing a drop-down list showing all of the attributes created so far will be displayed. Click the “Please select an attribute” box to show the full list.
After all 4 of the attributes created to describe the Bank type have been selected, the screen will show:
The Mandatory box should only be ticked if that particular piece of information is essential for the record to be completed. In the case of a record relating to a bank account, all 4 of the attributes shown above are deemed to be mandatory.
This process should be followed for all 4 of the asset types for which attributes are required. In the case of the Bank type, a completed list will show:
The vertical arrows to the left of the attributes listed allow the sequence to be altered. This will change the left-to-right display when the completed records are viewed.
When this process has been completed for all of the asset types for which attributes are required, it is possible to begin the process of adding this information into the Safe4 folder structure so that the asset information can be entered as required.
