Copying Provider Accounts

Once a branded provider account has been set up, and all of the provider users, security groups and configuration settings applied, it will generally prove more efficient to copy this when new providers are required as opposed to creating new provider accounts from scratch. After copying, the settings for configuration and branding can be very quickly changed to reflect the nature of the business that the new provider will be used for.

When the Copy Provider button is clicked, the following dialog box will be displayed:

As for the Create Provider function, the normal provider settings tabs are displayed. It will of course be necessary to give the copied provider a different name from the source provider. The settings for the original provider in the Address, Security, Configuration and Weblink tabs will be copied to the new account.

The Copy tab however offers a number of options that will facilitate very rapid configuration of the new account. When the Copy tab is selected, the following options will be presented:

Options when Copying Providers

By default, all of the options on this page will be ticked. They can be deselected if required. The options are:

Copy Groups: Each of the security groups in the source provider will be carried over to the new account, and will be available for application to folders within the vaults that are created in the newly copied provider.

Copy Provider Users: All of the provider users in the source account will be copied to the new one. These users will be able to gain immediate access to the new provider once the OK button has been clicked at the end of the copy process, and will have identical permissions and security group allocations as in the source account.

Copy Types and Attributes: The basic elements of the Safe4 Asset Register capability, Types and Attributes, will also be copied if this option is ticked. This will permit immediate use of the chosen Types when creating folders in vaults that are set up in the new account.

Copy Vault: It is common for template vaults to be set up in Safe4 provider accounts, allowing the rapid creation of new vaults based on a standard folder and security group structure. The Copy Provider function extends this capability so that when the new provider is created, a specific vault can be selected so that it can contain the same template vault as the source, complete with its folder structure and security groups. Any folder can be chosen for copying at this stage – it does not need to be a designated template vault.

Branding

The branding for the newly-copied provider will be identical to the settings in the source account, including logo, welcome text, invitation disclaimer and email signature. These settings can be changed if desired after the copied provider has been created, to reflect any differences in presentation that are applicable to the business activity that the new account will address.
