Advanced System Admin: Introduction

In order to perform the functions described in this section of the Safe4 Guides, you will need to have been granted System Administrator permissions. These permissions can only be given by members of the Safe4 account management team.

The basic architecture of Safe4 comprises providers, vaults and users. Management of vaults and standard user functions is performed by provider users who have been granted the Manage Provider User  and Manage Vault User functions. This is covered in detail in the relevant sections of the Safe4 Administration Guide.

Multiple Provider Accounts

Because the key management and administration functions of Safe4 are restricted to provider users, it is often valuable for an organisation to create additional provider accounts so that branding and terminology can be tailored to the specific needs of the business activity being addressed. Safe4 has therefore added the capability to Create and Copy provider accounts.

Creating Providers will generate a blank provider account. Individual settings and configurations can then be applied as required. Similarly, no specific branding will be applied to the new provider. Users may then be added through the standard invitation process, or by using the global user management options.

The Copy Provider function is particularly useful as it carries over the settings and branding allocated to each provider. Branding and messaging can be altered if required to allow the newly copied provider to reflect the chosen business activity.

Global User Management

Global management of users permits both providers and vaults to be added to specific user accounts without the need to issue invitations to the users concerned. In many cases users may have access to multiple providers or vaults at any one time. The global user management functions allow providers and vaults to be removed from user accounts as well as being added, for example when a project or case has been concluded.
